Eight years ago Google gave us satellite views of Rainbow Mountain. The resolution was limited however.I revisit the summit periodically, things are much sharper now. I've updated Brian's site, particularly the main page (which now provides more background) and the memorial page. The latter now references one of Brian's screenplays and a collection of his MOC trip reports, as well as several of the statements from the Montreal and Manchester memorial services. The RCMP aerial search is tentatively scheduled for the third week of September. That is usually a time when a combination of warm days followed by cooler weather has shrunk streams and diminished snow/ice cover. The RCMP is still planning to do the aerial search, and they've received the map we prepared and suggestions from Andrei and Michael. It sounds like later in September may be best. The weather is cooler, but the streams dry up and the ground is often more exposed. I'll post a notice here when we know more.

The RCMP will be doing an aerial search in the next two weeks or so once the latest snow clears. This may be a time of maximal snow/ice clearance. We are putting up a map outlining potential areas for a focused aerial search, but I'm not a skilled map reader and Andrei and Bruce will better define these regions.
